Yesterday, the baritone Ben Goble gave a concert at Snape Church which, along with Virginia Spray’s delicious mulled wine, and mince pies donated by Tesco, put us in the mood for Christmas. Ben’s programme began with four resonant carols including "Silent Night" in the original German, followed by memorable songs from films, notably a fresh arrangement of "Auld Lang Syne". The finale was (without the swearing) Ben’s full-throated rendition of "Fairy Tale of New York" composed by, and first performed by, Shane McGowan (RIP) of the Pogues. Fabulous!
Next up, at 5pm on Friday December 22nd, are Carols on the Village Green sung around a shapely and glittering Christmas Tree, donated by Miranda Barclay. Please come and sing — and enjoy a cup of mulled wine and mince pies donated by Waitrose.
Looking ahead to 2024, The Lowestoft Longshoremen perform at Snape Church at 3pm on Saturday 13th January — and, on Sunday 18th February at 3pm, the wonderful Goldcrest Ensemble (who visited us in December 2022) return with a programme generously supported by the William Alwyn Foundation.
FoSC thank all our supporters and applaud the talented musicians for donating their time, expertise and hard work — which they make look so easy! Thank you for helping to keep Snape Church standing!
