From today, Priory Road, Gromford Lane, Hulver Lane and Wadd Lane are formally designated by Suffolk County Council as Quiet Lanes. Signage is now in place.
Snape is one of the very first villages to receive that designation, as part of a joint project with East Suffolk Council, run by volunteers, that will create around 300 miles of Quiet Lanes in Suffolk.
"In Quiet Lanes … objectives for improving and maintaining the quality of life for local residents take precedence over general objectives to ease traffic movements. [They] are places where prescribed local activities may be carried out, as well as being public thoroughfares. ... Pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians should feel able to use Quiet Lanes safely from the time of designation. Uses might include recreation, social interaction and education, and could include uses that do not involve passing along the lane."

The Parish Council is to convene on Tuesday 27th October to discuss one particular item — the designation of certain "Quiet Lanes", about which you can download a brief explanation here and see a map below. This idea, within the Village Plan, was also briefly mentioned in August's "Information Update 4" leaflet, distributed to all households in the village.
You may also have recently read that Suffolk County Council has released £235,000 for the expansion of the Quiet Lanes initiative. We understand that Snape is "at the top of the list", so the online meeting on Tuesday 27th at 7pm is to discuss that.
The Parish Council will be meeting online over Zoom, as we have been doing for the last six months. Members of the public are welcome to attend Council meetings, but you need to register beforehand by emailing russ.rainger@snapevillage.info, so that Zoom joining instructions can be passed to you. If you wish to raise a point during the public forum, but are unable to attend, please contact the Parish Clerk at snapepc.clerk@gmail.com.
The Agenda can be downloaded from here.
