The Ebb and Flow Newsletter Ebb and Flow is the monthly newsletter for the Alde River Benefice and a valuable source of information for this web site. Read the latest edition as well as the archives here to see what is happening in and around Snape.
Wild life seems to be prospering in Snape. Last month it was
the rare waxwing bird being spotted on the hill. Now a polecat has
ravaged the Crown Inn’s population
of quail. The birds are bred in the barn there for the table but
overnight a polecat got in and killed all fourteen - just after a fox
got all the chickens.
The polecat was trapped the night after his dirty deed by Head
Chef Garry Cook. Meanwhile the eggs laid by the quail - sometimes they
lay three a day - are
being incubated to replenish the run (and eventually the menu).
The Edward Bear Club started this Autumn with the exciting
story of Noah building his ark, the rain causing severe flooding and
what happened when it stopped.
We are continuing to meet at Snape Village Hall on the first Wednesday
of each month from 2.00 to 3.00pm. All under 5s (and their adults) are
very welcome to join us. There are bible stories, activities, singing,
refreshments, all in one hour!

Council Matters...
The parish council’s desire to have an affordable housing programme for Snape looks to have moved several steps nearer as the result of recent meetings with the owners of the site and the Orwell Housing Association.
The site would be on land which was once part of Street Farm and is on the opposite side of the road to the school and the shop. Council chairman Mike Hill says that, after the recent meetings with the members of the family who own the site and their agent, together with the Orwell Housing Association which would undertake the development, there was now a very positive atmosphere regarding progress. The village survey indicated the need for such rental housing and the present thinking is that there would be seven or eight units. Architects have now been asked to provide preliminary sketches which will be reviewed by the parish council
The Parish Council holds an open
forum at
the start of each meeting. We are keen that you come along and discuss
any issues or perhaps make your views known. If you have a topic you
would like to discuss with the Council but are unable to make the
meeting in person please contact our Parish Clerk, Mel
Thurston by phone on 01728 688849 or by emailing clerk@snapevillage.info.
The next meeting is on Thursday
12th March 2009
